When you see that familiar orange and white roof, you know you're in for a Whataburger. With more than 580 owned and franchised outlets, the company operates a popular fast-food chain in Texas, Oklahoma, and a half dozen other southern states. Whataburger restaurants are typically open 24 hours a day and serve burgers and fries along with breakfast items (taquitos, pancakes), fajitas, chicken, and salads. About 230 of the company's restaurants are franchised. Loyal Whataburger fans can don the company's line of apparel sporting the chain's logo. The late Harmon Dobson founded Whataburger in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950. His family (including Dobson's son, chairman and CEO Thomas Dobson) owns the company.
