The Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki, Te Kura Matatini o Taranaki, or â??WITTâ?? as we call ourselves, is the largest tertiary provider of education outcomes in Taranaki. As a regional provider, we offer a unique service to our customers who include students, employers and industry. The context for tertiary education has changed dramatically over the last few years, leading WITT to assess, reassess and also change direction to ensure that its purpose and its vision remain appropriate for its size and context â?? with some room also to dream of a better world. WITT staff aspire to provide the highest quality tertiary education outcomes and valued outcomes for our students, to meet the skills shortages of the region, and ensure that the Taranaki region remains â??homeâ??. WITT offers programmes from certificate to degree and graduate diplomas across a wide range of areas, including Business, Administration, Nursing, Healthcare, Cookery, Hospitality, Maori Language, Art and Design, Foundation studies, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Automotive, Carpentry, Computing (ICT), Hairdressing, Makeup Artistry, Beauty Therapy, Agriculture and Horticulture. WITT's main campus is in New Plymouth, on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. The campus contains a cafeteria, art blocks, computer labs, engineering workshops, training hospitality cafe and restaurant, nursing sim lab, hair and beauty training salon and lots more. WITT focuses its courses particularly on vocational outcomes, and seeks to ensure that graduates are able to enter the workforce successfully or to advance their careers through further education or training. WITT also have a smaller campus located in Hawera (South Taranaki) which offers a range of courses tailored to the needs of the students. Hawera is located one hour south of New Plymouth.
