Western Growers members are the family farmers you trust to feed your family. They are the dedicated families who care about the health of your family and the families of our nation and the world. They are also the family farmers who grow, pack and ship nearly one half of the nation's fresh vegetables, fruits and nuts. Formed in 1926 in California's Imperial Valley, Western Growers was known as the Western Growers Protective Association. It began as a marketing protective organization to combat rate hikes instituted by the railroads. Our philosophy then was that there is strength in numbers and that tradition lives on today. Bringing the industry together to support common goals remains a cornerstone of the association's strategy and purpose. To accomplish this, Western Growers is dedicated to providing quality services and programs that benefit and enhance the competitiveness of its members in the Arizona and California fresh produce industry. The association, which is celebrating more than 75 years of serving the fresh produce industry in California and Arizona, offers a variety of services to its members including: government affairs; marketing collections; international trade tours; loss control safety training; transportation claims and negotiations; legal and labor relations; public relations; accident and health benefits; publications; financial services and retirement benefits; and property and casualty coverage. WG is headquartered in Irvine, California, and has field offices located in the major production areas of both states: Bakersfield, El Centro, Fresno, Modesto, Oxnard, Sacramento, Salinas, San Marcos, Santa Maria, Sherman Oaks, Watsonville, California, along with Phoenix and Somerton, Arizona.
