What Is Western Energy Institute?

Briefly stated, Western Energy Institute (WEI) is a regional association that serves the electric and gas industries, both public and private, in the Western U.S. and Canada. We’re based in the lively town of Portland, which is a superb place to live and work. In fact, we are regularly named one of the 100 best nonprofits to work for in Oregon by Oregon Business. Our company’s membership includes 81 energy companies of all sorts, and more than 200 industry service providers. We offer a member-driven, open learning environment to develop great leaders and innovators in our industry. Every year, we sponsor educational and networking programs that help member companies thrive in today’s competitive energy markets. Vision Western Energy is the premier Western association of energy companies that implements strategic, member-driven forums, identifies critical industry issues, facilitates dynamic and timely employee development opportunities, and supports member relationships to help achieve solutions vital to their success. Mission Statement Western Energy supports the electric and natural gas industries by providing: • Forums for professionals to exchange timely information on critical industry issues • A relaxed environment for members to collaborate and network • Information about the industry’s best practices • Skills training that supports operational excellence at all levels WE Magazine: WEI’s quarterly publication is distributed to more than 6,500 decision-makers of public and private companies involved in electric generation and transmission, gas and electric distribution, pipeline operations, power marketing and energy-related services. Content is contributed from WEI member companies and industry partners, and offers unique perspectives pertinent to energy executives and managers who face common business challenges spanning across front line operations to back office functions.
