There are 33 elected members (councillors) representing nine multi-member wards.\r\n\r\nWest Lothian’s population and economy.\r\n• West Lothian has a population of more than 172,000, accounting for 3% of Scotland’s total population.\r\n• West Lothian has been one of the fastest-growing parts of Scotland and is predicted to continue this trend, with projections that it will rise by over 19% by 2035.\r\n• The average age is 38, compared with the Scottish average age of 40.\r\n• The split of population currently shows a high proportion of working age people.\r\n• Over the next 25 years the population aged under 16 is projected to rise by 13.3% but the biggest area of growth will be people of pensionable age.\r\n• It is anticipated that the number of 65-74 year olds will increase by 80% and the number of over 75s by 151% by 2033.\r\n\r\nWest Lothian is centrally located with excellent infrastructure and transport links, and a fantastic selection of office, retail and industrial premises.
