What Is Wakefield and District Housing?
WDH is one of the UK’s largest social housing providers, responsible for over 31,000 homes in the Wakefield district. In addition to being a landlord, WDH also provides a wide range of health and housing-related services. Our vision is to create confident communities across Wakefield.\r\n\r\nWDH provides many services including:\r\n-Care Link provides telecare services to 15,000 customers across the Yorkshire and Humber region. It supports older and vulnerable people to live independently at home, by using personal alarms and sensors to alert our dedicated contact centre if emergency situations occur.\r\n\r\n-Northern Shared Services is a cost-sharing partnership which sees WDH’s skilled tradespeople carry out daily repairs and maintenance to 11,000 properties belonging to other housing associations across the region.\r\n \r\n-WDH is one of a small number of UK housing associations constructing new homes using its own workforce. Since 2006 we have built over 600 new homes using our Homebuilder team and construction partners. These properties are available for affordable rent, through Shared Ownership or Intermediate Rent to Buy.\r\n\r\n-We are committed to helping tenants improve their quality of life through our Health Inequality Caseworker service, Community Employment Advisors, and our Cash Wise financial inclusion programme.\r\n\r\n-Our dedicated Sustainability team works to reduce our carbon footprint and help people out of fuel poverty. Their Switch & Save programme helps people reduce their bills.\r\n\r\nOur recent awards include the EFQM Excellence 2013 Prize for ‘Adding Value for Customers’, 2013 Yorkshire and Humberside Employer of the Year in the National Apprenticeship Awards, Landlord of the Year and Large Social Landlord of the Year at the UK Housing Awards 2013, and Business Contact Centre of the Year at the 2014 European Call Centre and Customer Service Awards. \r\n\r\nWDH’s social media accounts:\r\nfacebook.com/wdhupdate\r\ntwitter.com/wdhupdate
