What Is Vooom - one app to ride the City?
Vooom is a Polish MaaS (Mobility as a Service) platform, taking up the challenge to take a comprehensive look into modern urban mobility services. Vooom aims to combine public transport, vehicle sharing and other mobility services to enable flawless and eco-friendly urban commuting within one app. Vooom was developed in Poland and enables fast and efficient rides in 12 biggest Polish cities. One of the most important parts of the Vooom platform is Multimodal predictive planner. Planner helps connecting shared vehicles, public transport and taxis, all accessible from one application. Multimodal planer can be integrated with any transportation means and plan optimal itineraries based on time, costs, CO2 emission or other objective function that take into account user preferences regarding type of vehicle (or any properties of the vehicle such as brand, operator, transmission, type of fuel etc.). The main function of the planner is to find optimal connection between two given points with use of a mix of transportation means. Finding the optimal route through the city using a mix of transportation means (such as buses, trains, e-kick scooters or cars) is a tough task. Should I take a metro, go to the fourth station and change to an e-kick scooter to reach the destination or maybe it is better to go directly with the bus? Which one is faster/eco friendlier/cheaper? Should I switch to an e-kick scooter on the fourth or fifth station? What is the chance that an e-kick scooter will be there? Is it allowed to return it at destination and what with range? From the perspective of companies that provide shared means of transport, the problem of supporting users in route planning is even more complex. Although end-user satisfaction is crucial, at the same time it is essential to support profitability by increasing the utilization and minimizing the maintenance costs e.g. by encouraging people to leave vehicles in “hot zones†and/or use e-kick scooter with just enough range
