What Is US Lumber?

U.S. Lumber is a distributor of a broad line of building materials, specializing in all quantities of specialty products . U.S. LUMBER was created in a merger between Atlantic Trading Company (est. 1986 Birmingham, AL) and Bestwood Forest Products (est. 1986 in Greenville, SC) and is headquartered today in Atlanta, GA. Initially a small local distributor specializing in spruce and pine, today U.S. LUMBER covers the southeast and mid-Atlantic with branches in Birmingham, Atlanta, Greenville, Raleigh, Nashville, Jacksonville, Mobile and Baltimore. In these branches, the company carries the largest and broadest inventory of specialty products in the region. Specializing in Exterior Trim products, we also stock large inventories of interior millwork, flooring, stepping, patterns, beaded ceiling, sidings and decking. U.S. LUMBER also operates two strategic reloads to streamline the flow of product from mill/producers to our operating branches and larger building supply partners. Birmingham has a BN railhead catching product from the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, and Charleston serves as our primary port of entry receiving spruce and pine from Europe and New Zealand, and millwork products from most countries in South America. Seven years ago, virtually every product we sold came from the United States or Canada. Today, U.S. LUMBER is trading with approximately 20 countries, including Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic, Russia, New Zealand and Mexico. Just four years ago, every product we sold was some form of wood fiber. Today we sell plastic, PVC, MDF, MDO, cement, vinyl, felt, and an ever-growing line of composites. The company's primary customer is the independent dealer-------contractor oriented "pro-yards" that are focusing on contractors both large and small. Millwork houses, door and window shops, both stand alone and within lumber dealers' business offering. With the rapid growth of MDF, PVC, and fiber cement composites in new home construction, U.S. LUMBER has continued to add brand names suppliers such as Trex, Miratec, Tendura, and Certainteed and their ever-growing low-maintenance product offerings. In collaboration with these manufacturers, U.S. LUMBER has taken a pro-active approach to the development of new products through "specialists" whose focus is to teach and train builders and dealers sales personnel and show the benefits and value add of the composite building material. U.S. LUMBER is committed to serving customers on a personalized basis with emphasis on understanding "what you want, when/where you want it, exactly like you want it", then delivering the results complete, correct, and on time.
