What Is UNSW Law andamp; Justice?
SLEG is a non-profit, non-government organisation that exists to engage, educate and empower members of community through law-related education. SLEG was rebranded in 2014 from Schools Legal Education Group reflecting the extension of the program to cater for local & regional community groups, as well as high schools. UNSW Law Students are known for their unwavering commitment to social justice and a long legacy of working with disadvantaged groups. SLEG seeks to ensure everyone is empowered with the basic legal knowledge and awareness of their rights. We promote the integration of law-related education in schools and local & regional communities. The modules also seek to debunk some of the commonly assumed ‘myths' about key areas of the law, and to promote a critical engagement with basic legal material. They are presented by small groups of volunteers in a manner, which emphasises personal engagement and active participation.
