What Is UFW Foundation?

The United Farm Workers Foundation (UFW Foundation) is a dynamic nonprofit organization created in 1974, by the late labor and civil rights leader Cesar E. Chavez, and relaunched in 2006. The mission of the UFW Foundation is to empower communities to ensure human dignity. We do this through: ᅢᄁ¬ツᆲᅡᄁ Innovation: The active pursuit of new ideas; ᅢᄁ¬ツᆲᅡᄁ Si Se Puede Attitude: The embodiment of a personal and organizational spirit that promotes confidence, courage and risk taking; ᅢᄁ¬ツᆲᅡᄁ Integrity: Doing the right thing even when no one is looking; ᅢᄁ¬ツᆲᅡᄁ Empowerment: Creating the environment and tools for success; In 2006 we established our immigration and civic participation programs. The UFW Foundation significantly advocates for farm workers at the national, state, and local levels. The organization has mobilized farm workers and other organizations across the country to advocate for immigration reform, pesticide protections, heat standards and other worker protections, taking hundreds of farm workers to Washington D.C. to lobby on their own behalf. Rooted in the community through its multiple service centers, UFW Foundation is the largest federally accredited provider of immigration legal services in rural California and Phoenix where they are on the frontline of serving immigrant communities through its immigration legal services. Notably, 13 years of experience in immigration policy, advocacy, legal services and grassroots community education has positioned the organization as a resource for other non-profit organizations and government bodies serving farm worker communities at the federal, state and local level. The UFW Foundation reached over 100,000 people in 2019 through its grassroots organizing, outreach and services.
