What Is Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council?

Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council is based in Kings Hill in the West of Kent and comprises 54 borough councillors representing 24 wards. With a population of more than 120,000, the borough of Tonbridge and Malling covers an area of approximately 92 square miles and is largely rural in character. There are many towns and villages, which are of architectural and historic interest including the market town of Tonbridge with its 13th century Motte and Bailey castle, West Malling, Hadlow, Hildenborough, East Peckham, Snodland, Leybourne, Trottiscliffe, East Malling, Larkfield, Ditton, Borough Green, Wrotham and Aylesford. To the north of the borough lies the area known locally as the Medway Gap where the river Medway cuts through the North Downs. This area includes a number of communities including Blue Bell Hill village, Walderslade, Burham, Wouldham and Eccles.\r\n\r\nThe Borough Council provides many services for residents, businesses and visitors. As well as collecting refuse, recycling and the council tax, we manage development across the borough, support businesses and encourage investment in the local economy, work to keep the borough clean and safe, help residents with housing and benefits enquiries, deal with licensing issues and promote healthy living and leisure activities. We can even help with pest control problems.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the Council manages and maintains the borough’s green spaces and country parks and provides four leisure facilities: Larkfield Leisure Centre, Angel Centre, Tonbridge Swimming Pool and Poult Wood Golf Centre. These four leisure facilities are managed on behalf of the Borough Council by a charitable trust - Tonbridge & Malling LeisureTrust (TMLT), a not-for-profit organisation.\r\n\r\nThe Council strives to provide excellent public services, good value for money and effective community leadership. \r\n\r\nFollow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TMBC_Kent \r\n\r\nVisit our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/tonbridgeandmalling
