Tigerair Australia is committed to delivering the best in terms of safe, affordable, reliable air travel with a friendly service. Tiger Airways (Australia Pty Ltd) commenced operating domestic flights in Australia on 23 November 2007 from its home base in Melbourne. In October 2012, Virgin Australia announced its intention to purchase 60% of Tiger Airways Australia from parent company Tiger Airways Holdings. In July 2013, the airline rebranded to Tigerair Australia and the joint venture between Tiger Airways Holdings and the Virgin Australia Group was launched, with Virgin Australia acquiring 60% Tigerair Australia. These two milestones signaled a new era for Tigerair in Australia. In February 2015, the Virgin Australia announced the acquisition of the remaining 40% of Tigerair Australia to own 100% of the airline. Tigerair Australia is now a fully owned subsidiary of Virgin Australia Holdings. In August 2015, Tigerair Australia announced new international services from Melbourne, Perth & Adelaide to Bali commencing 23 March 2016. Tigerair Australia will use three Boeing 737-800 aircraft from the Virgin Australia Group to facilitate the airline’s first short haul international services. The aircraft will be reconfigured and rebranded in the Tigerair livery. - Tigerair Australia is a low cost carrier which operates 14 A320 aircraft domestically across 19 routes and to 13 destinations around Australia and 3 B747 aircraft internationally to Denpasar. - International services from Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide to Bali commenced March 2016. - The airline has flown well over 21 million passengers in Australia since operations commenced in Australia in November 2007.
