What Is The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE)?
The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) exists to build capability and create opportunity with and for generations of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders; by delivering life-changing programs and reframing possibility for all Australians. With our partners, we lead, collaborate on or facilitate programs in the pathways of arts and culture, health and wellness, learning and innovation, and sports and recreation. Beyond program design, development and delivery; the NCIE is also changing the national conversation about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We focus on shifting discussion away from the negative deficit language of disadvantage to the positive assets based language of excellence. The NCIE manages a number of social enterprise units to support the delivery of programs and to generate revenue for reinvestment in social impact. The NCIE's landmark facilities are located in the heart of Redfern.
