What Is The International Preschools?

The International Preschools is an early childhood education and childcare organization that was founded in 1963 in an effort to provide for international families associated with the United Nations There are three schools throughout Manhattan, each located in a distinctly unique neighborhood; this, combined with a consistent curriculum creates an educational environment that is unparalleled. The International Preschools implements a Learning Through Play philosophy into its curriculum. Because play is so integral to the growth and skill development of children, the play-based activities at the school help foster problem solving and goal reaching skills in developmentally appropriate and fun ways. They also develop children’s abilities to express their thoughts and feelings, build friendships, and collaborate and communicate effectively. This learning through play curriculum is supported by an open and nurturing environment wherein children from all over the world are encouraged to share their distinct cultures through food, dance, music, and language. . At The International Preschools, value is placed in a diverse and supportive community that thrives on the collaboration between the staff and families. Parents can participate in a variety of ways including; sharing family traditions and customs, parent education programs, and fundraising and social events The International Preschools is a member of the Independent School Admission Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) and a full member of the New York Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS). Because of the school's reputation and the quality of the program, the students go on to attend top independent and public schools. The Director and the administration advise families throughout the admissions process. The International Preschools offers the opportunity for children to be integrated in local Manhattan neighborhoods while simultaneously experiencing global cultures.
