The Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security was established in 2007 by Lieutenant-General (ret) The Honourable Roméo Dallaire, UN force commander of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda.\n \nOur vision is a world where children are at the heart of peace and security. Our mission is to end the recruitment and use of children in armed violence and transform cycles of violence. The Dallaire Institute conducts activities on three fronts:\n• Interdisciplinary research to build—and share—knowledge, which in turn leads to new solutions\n• High-level advocacy activities to create and promote the political will to end the use of children in armed violence\n• Tactical, prevention-oriented training to security sector actors, to promote broader security sector reform.\n \nIn every aspect of our work, the Dallaire Institute seeks to collaborate with governments, the security sector, academics, humanitarians, and civilian communities. We are the only organization in the world to work with military, police, prison personnel, and private security operators to prevent the recruitment and use of children in armed violence before it happens.
