What Is Sydney Airport?
Corporate Information At Sydney Airport, our vision is to deliver a world-class airport experience and foster the growth of aviation for the benefit of Sydney, NSW and Australia.. Sydney Airport is the gateway to Australia, welcoming around 42 million passengers a year. The airport is forecast to welcome more than 74 million passengers by 2033. Sydney is Australia’s premier tourist destination, attracting more than 50 per cent of all international arrivals to Australia. The airport’s proximity to the city centre — just 8km from the CBD and 10km from major tourist attractions — is an advantage enjoyed by only a few other global cities. Air services are vital to NSW’s high value service industries, as they provide access to new customers, markets and opportunities. Sydney Airport generates or facilitates $30.8 billion a year to the economy (about 6.4% of the NSW economy) and supports 285,300 jobs, including 28,000 at the airport. The airport has an unmatched route network, with around 40 airlines serving close to 100 destinations. Sydney Airport has three runways and three passenger terminals that service a range of airlines: - T1 International terminal, used by 34 carriers to fly to 47 direct destinations around the world; - T2 Domestic (common user) terminal, used by Virgin Australia, Jetstar Airways, Tigerair and Regional Express; and - T3 Domestic terminal, operated by Qantas and QantasLink for domestic flights only. Ownership Structure Sydney Airport is a top 30 listed company in Australia. It has been listed on the ASX since 2002. The company’s shareholders include institutions, superannuation funds and individual ‘mum and dad’ investors. The airport operates under a 99-year long term lease from the federal government.
