Our token, StableUSD (USDS), is a fiat-collateralized stablecoin. Each USDS token is legally backed and redeemable for a US Dollar (USD) held in trust accounts managed by our regulated trustees, such as Prime Trust. USDS tokens are useful for powering Dapps and smart contracts, facilitating payment and remittance as well as providing a natural safe haven for digital wealth during times of high market volatility. The biggest and most obvious problem with using popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin for transactional purposes at the moment is price volatility. By making our USDS token redeemable and pegged 1-to-1 to USD, we can virtually eliminate its price volatility while still retaining many useful characteristics of a Bitcoin, such as fast transaction speed, anonymity, and immutability.
