Located in the heart of the city, St Albans School dates from 948AD and is one of the UK's leading schools, with entry for boys at 11+ and 13+ and entry for boys and girls at 16+.\n\nWith just over 860 pupils, the School is renowned for its academic excellence and enviable exam results, as well as providing a wide range of extra-curricular activities and the finest games facilities in the county. \n\nCentral to the School’s ethos is helping every pupil to reach their potential; the School’s holistic approach offers strong and distinctive pastoral care and pupils are well-known and supported in a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment. \n\nPupils are challenged both inside and outside the classroom and have the opportunity to participate in a huge range of sporting, musical, dramatic and extra-curricular activities. \n\n St Albans School’s 2014 inspection report ranked the School as ‘excellent’ and its 2017 results reflect the School’s ongoing academic success: A noteworthy 27% of the A Level grades achieved by St Albans School Sixth Formers this year are A* grades: this is the second highest total in the School’s history. Seventeen pupils achieved at least 3 A*s. 34 candidates (almost a quarter of our entry) gained at least 2 A*s and 80 pupils (more than 50% of our entry) gained at least 1A*. Furthermore, 88% of grades awarded were A*-B grades, a widely-recognised measure of A Level success. This year, A* and A grades account for two thirds of all grades.\n\nA St Albans School education helps each pupil to flourish intellectually and personally, developing their self-confidence and preparing them for a fulfilling life.
