What Is Southern California Mountains Foundation?

The Southern California Mountains Foundation is a non-profit organization supporting youth development through conservation initiatives integrating environmental education, training, and hands-on service projects. We protect natural resources and provides interpretive services that focus on outdoor recreation and stewardship of our natural environment. Our Mission: We believe connecting community to public lands is key to their survival. We mobilize individuals to inspire and engage in environmental citizenship. We achieve our mission by raising money, organizing critical volunteer resources, and creating and managing programs focused on health, stewardship and sustainability of our Southern California mountains. Our seven distinct programs under the Southern California Mountains Foundation are: 1. Big Bear Discovery Center, 2. Urban Conservation Corps of the Inland Empire, 3. Fire Lookouts, 4. Off-Highway Vehicle Volunteers, 5. Fire Lookouts, 6. Music in the Mountains 7. Big Bear Valley Trails Over the past 30 years, the use of public lands has increased while funding has dramatically declined. The Mountains Foundation works to bridge that gap with conservation programs and education that promotes stewardship, adds value to the visitor experience and our local mountains become more valued.
