SmarTap developed a smart bathing system that not only providers an exceptional experience, it also collects information about water parameters, performs analysis and delivers insight and alerts. The system is relevant for private residential settings as well as for commercial settings such as high-end hotels, retirement homes and fitness centers, and offers value in three primary areas: 1) Experience: An elegant manual controller with light indicators for water temperature and flow rate replaces the standard faucet. The shower can be controlled manually, using a smartphone app or voice (via Amazon Alexa). Water temperature and flow rate remains comfortable and stable throughout the shower. 2) Cost-savings/environment: The system optimizes water and energy use and enables maximum temperature and flow controls. Customers have experienced up to 30% in water use reduction and 8% savings in energy use. Early leak detection (in development) and pipe freeze protection could impact maintenance costs as well as insurance premiums. 3) Safety: Capping temperature and providing alerts around system use can prevent burns and indicate potential user injury.
