What Is Sevenoaks District Council?

We have a reputation for high performance and we have been rated in the top 2% of best performing district councils nationally. Managing our finances is a real strength but customer focus, the quality of services and the way we empower our staff are where we really stand out. We are proud to hold the Investors in People 'Platinum' accreditation - the first local authority and public sector employer to secure the award in May 2016. Sevenoaks District Council is in the southwest of Kent and has a population of 117,000 residents. The main towns are Sevenoaks, Swanley, Edenbridge and Westerham as well as many small rural villages. The District covers 142 square miles: 93 per cent is Green Belt and much of the area is rural. Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty account for more than 60 per cent of the District. We collect the bins and the council tax but we provide so much more to make Sevenoaks District a great place to live, work and visit. We manage development, support local businesses, work to keep the District clean, safe and healthy, provide grants to support local projects and can even MOT your car or help with pest control problems. With more than 50 services provided there are unique opportunities for people to join us and help us achieve the promises we make to our community.
