What Is Sacred Heart Mission?

Sacred Heart Mission has a long history of effectively assisting the most disadvantaged members of our community to rebuild their lives. Since opening our doors in 1982, we have evolved into an innovative organisation, sustained by a deep pool of generosity and support from the community. We greatly benefit from the support of businesses, volunteers and the wider community. Our services address the immediate concerns of people experiencing homelessness but also practice early intervention. By attempting to address the causes and effects of poverty and disadvantage at an early stage, our services help prevent more people entering the cycle of poverty and disadvantage. Our research, policy and advocacy work aims to address the underlying causes of deep, persistent disadvantage throughout Australia. Vision: Our vision is of an inclusive, fair and compassionate community, which enables people to overcome disadvantage and realise their full potential. Mission : To build people's capacity to participate more fully in community life, by addressing the underlying causes of deep, persistent disadvantage and social exclusion. Our service types : Engagement hubs, individualised planned support, longer-term support and accommodation. Desired outcomes for the people who use our services : Independence, sustained housing, social participation, economic participation, health and well-being. Funding : Whilst we do receive government funding, more than 40% of our funding comes from the community through our op shop income and fundraising activities. Ways you can support us: * Single or recurring monthly donation * Workplace giving * Corporate volunteering * Individual volunteering * Bequest (leave a gift in your will) * Donate items to our op shops * Shop at our op shops * Donate food to our meals program * Attend our fundraising events * Community fundraising * Talk about the deeper issues behind homelessness!
