SCSL Revenue and Competitors

South Carolina Student Legislature is a nonprofit organization that engages South Carolina's next generation of public servants. The Executive Committee of SCSL Inc. aims to educate South Carolina's students about the functions of democratic government and to provide a forum for student debate on public policy issues. In fulfillment of this mission, South Carolina Student Legislature seeks the active participation of all institutions of higher education in South Carolina. South Carolina's state government forms the framework that SCSL's leadership structure is based upon. All members (except the governor) are part of either the Senate or the House; these bodies provide the optimal environment for participation and education. From these bodies, members elect the five officials of the Executive Committee who lead the organization with the aid of delegation chairpersons from each participating college or university. SCSL was founded in 1956 by Dr. Douglas Carlisle. The organization drafted a constitution and incorporated itself under the motto of "Our Freedom, Our Liberty, Our Responsibility."
