Founded in 1999 to provide professional sports coaching to school children in London and the southeast, today the SCL Education Group is one of the UK's leading independent providers of education through sport. Its mission is to improve the lives of over one million children and young adults through sports-based learning and education, coaching and active childcare. SCL EDUCATION & TRAINING offers education and work-based learning for young adults aged 14-19 years old including Apprenticeships, Traineeships and Study Programmes, delivered in conjunction with professional and grassroots sports clubs (football, rugby and cricket), foundations and community programmes, private academies, schools and colleges and employers. As an employer who has been inspired to develop their own workforce and is committed to creating an end to end journey to offer more opportunities for children to get active in a safe and fun environment, SCL have created, developed and launched a Foundation Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Coaching with De Montfort University based in Surrey at Tomlinscote Vocational Centre. SOCCER COACHING provides curricular and extra-curricular school sport and PE programmes, teacher training and INSET day provision for over 130 primary schools. It also offers Ofsted-regulated active childcare through its Club Energy and Soccer School holiday clubs for children aged 4-12 years old which saw over 30,000 attendees last summer.
