What Is SAIF Corporation?
SAIF makes workers compensation insurance widely available to businesses without regard to size. SAIF insures more than 44,000 Oregon employers, including three out of every five small employers and more than half of all nonprofits in the state. SAIF insures many small and high-risk employers that private insurers don't want to cover. SAIF makes claims decisions in roughly half the time it takes for private insurers. This reduces uncertainty for employers and workers. It saves employers time-loss expenses and helps workers get back on the job more quickly. When a worker is injured and cannot return to work immediately, workers compensation covers their lost wages, but waiting for that first check from the insurance company can be difficult for a family whose primary breadwinner is not working. SAIF makes that initial payment 5% to 10% more timely than the average private insurer. Injured workers see that SAIF protects injured workers... and they appreciate it. SAIF's internal benchmarking shows that more than 80% of injured workers report being very satisfied with the level of service and expertise they received from SAIF.
