We are an independent educational charity committed to providing public benefit throughout Scotland by supporting the advancement of learning and useful knowledge.\r\n\r\nEstablished by Royal Charter in 1783, we are unique in the UK as our 1600-strong Fellowship includes experts from a broad spectrum of disciplines such as science & technology, arts, humanities, social science, business and public service.\r\n\r\nOur activities include leading on major inquiries, informing public policy, funding leading researchers, working internationally and delivering events to inspire knowledge and learning.
