Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is a Local Authority in South Yorkshire. In partnership with others, the Council provides services for approximately 260,000 residents and 100,000 people who work in Rotherham. As a Metropolitan Borough Council it has responsibility for providing a range of services including: social care, planning, housing, revenue and benefits support, licensing, business regulation and enforcement, electoral registration, refuse and recycling, leisure, culture, parks and green spaces, economic growth, highways maintenance, education and skills, community safety and public health. It also has an important role in working with other providers of public services across Rotherham.\n\nRotherham is so much more than its industrial heritage and has lots to offer both in terms of career and lifestyle. Rotherham is made up of 70% open countryside, complemented by three popular country parks and has easy access to the M1, M18, high speed rail links and an international airport – a balance of green space with the ability to hop to cities such as Sheffield, Leeds, York and Manchester. Rotherham and its surrounding area are bustling with cultural and leisure activities including attractions such as Clifton Park, Boston Castle and Gardens, Magna Science Adventure Centre and Wentworth Woodhouse.\n\nRotherham is proud of its coal and steel heritage and continues to have a strong manufacturing presence in the form of the Advanced Manufacturing Park.
