What Is Rentech?
Rentech, Inc. is a 21-year-old Colorado corporation that owns and licenses a proprietary and patented process that converts synthesis gas (syngas) into valuable liquid hydrocarbons including clean sulfur and aromatic free diesel fuel (below detectable limits), naphtha and waxes. (Figure 1) This technology known as Fischer Tropsch, Gas-To-Liquids ("GTL"), has been labeled by oil and gas industry leaders and analysts as a technology that will change this massive industry as it is known today. Richard Matzke, president of Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc. stated in a Wall Street Journal article on June 10, 1999 that GTL technology has the potential to "...create an entire paradigm shift throughout the oil and gas industry."
