What Is Reach Deaf Services?
About us\nReach Deaf Services is a non-profit charity enabling the Deaf Community and Deaf people generally to achieve their full potential and to have equality of access and opportunity in all aspects of their lives.\nReach Deaf Services focuses on the areas of education, social care, pastoral and spiritual work.\n\nOur History\nThe Catholic Institute for the Deaf (CID) was established as a charitable institution in 1845.\nIn 2007, the name changed to the Catholic Institute for Deaf people (CIDP) and in September 2021 we rebranded as Reach Deaf Services.\nThe Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, Archbishop Farrell, is the President of the company and appoints one third of the Board members, including the Chairperson.\n\n\nReach Deaf Services is in receipt of funding from the Health Service Executive for the boarding campus accommodating children attending the specialised Holy Family School for the Deaf and for St. Joseph’s Supported Living Services, which support vulnerable Deaf and Deaf Blind adults living in their own homes. Reach Deaf Services directly manages these services and is the trustee of the Holy Family school. St Joseph’s Supported Living Services will have fully completed the de-congregation journey from St Joseph’s House Residential Service, Stillorgan, by end October 2021.\n\nThe National Deaf Village Sports and Leisure Company Limited, which now trades as the Inspire Fitness Centre, is a subsidiary company of Reach Deaf Services.
