Prairie States was founded in 1989 by nurses and other medical professionals who believed people deserve quality health care and that quality health care can be affordable. We knew there was a better way to manage health benefits. Our vision was to become a third party administrator who stood apart from the crowd by providing a complete range of services while controlling costs. To make our vision a reality, we assembled an experienced staff of nurses and other medical professionals to apply their expertise to the claims and health management process. We were also concerned about making it easy for people to work with us. For example, we decided to answer our phones with live operators make it easy for senior citizens and others to get any help they need right away. There have been a lot of changes in the last 19 years. In the early days Prairie States simply offered claim processing for medical, dental, and vision claims and utilization management . Fast forward to today and a new picture emerges. Prairie States is a technologically advanced company offering a comprehensive range of products and services in health benefits.
