What Is Playwrights Project?

Playwrights Project is nonprofit arts education organization advancing literacy, creativity and communication by inspiring individuals to voice their stories through playwriting programs and theatre productions. Based in San Diego, Playwrights Project reaches 10,000 individuals each year through its statewide California Young Playwrights Contest, playwriting programs in San Diego County schools, the Out of the Yard program in which teaching artists work with incarcerated individuals on playwriting, professional theatre productions and specialized play development programs serving populations such as foster youth, emerging playwrights, and seniors.
