What Is Partners for Peace?

Building strong families for a peaceful community. Our vision: all families in Monterey County will have an opportunity to acquire the skills needed to develop a strong & healthy family. We offer 4 evidenced based programs to strengthen the family unit, improve & promote healthy development of youth: Strengthening Families Program teaches parents & children, ages 10-16, the tools, skills & strategies to build strong families in an 8 week class. Named the #1 prevention program out of 6,000 for long-term effects on substance use & misuse by The World Health Organization. T Over 4,000 parents & youth have participated since its inception in 2005. Building healthy family communication is crucial during these times to try to reduce substance abuse, aggressive behavior & the breakdown of the family unit. The Parent Project for parents of difficult or out of control teens. The 12 week “Changing Destructive Adolescent Behavior” curriculum provides concrete solutions & skills to help parents gain control over their household. This is the only program in the country that tackles the most destructive of adolescent behaviors. The Parent Project® program is the largest court mandated juvenile diversion program in the country. In multiple evaluation studies, it has been found to be effective in increasing parental control, reducing youth antisocial & delinquent behavior, increasing school attendance & achievement, & reducing juvenile delinquency. In 2016 Parent Project Junior® (PPJ), Loving Solutions, was launched in Salinas. PPJ is a 10-week curriculum specifically designed for parents raising difficult, strong-willed and highly impulsive children. Special application to ADD/ADHD issues. STEP UP mentoring was initiated in 2013 to help youth STEP UP and out of the life circumstances that limit their options. STEP UP Mentors help youth reach their potential through a weekly, 9 month group mentoring program for youth ages 11-14 years old,serving youth in Salinas area.
