About Us Founded by the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady in 1949, Our Lady of Lourdes is a newly constructed 192-bed hospital located in Lafayette, Louisiana. Lourdes is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, which is the largest locally-owned, not-for-profit health system in Louisiana. As such, our hospital has access to a great many resources – helping us to fulfill our mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to God’s people. Lourdes employs more than 1200 people, in addition to offering a staff of over 400 active physicians in a variety of medical and surgical specialties. We are the local healthcare leader, providing a wide-ranging network of facilities and services. In addition to our medical center, we have a campus on Kaliste Saloom Road – Heart Hospital of Lafayette, dedicated to providing the most outstanding cardiac care in the region. We also offer a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and Neuromedical Services that feature a Stroke Center of Excellence, as well as one of the top orthopedic programs in the nation. Lourdes also provides the only burn unit in Southwest Louisiana, in addition to the area’s first cancer network. With additional services including multiple clinics, four imaging locations and a primary care physician network, Lourdes provides easy access to comprehensive care throughout the community. After more than 60 years of providing the highest level of healthcare to the people of Acadiana, we are also pleased to announce the opening of our brand new hospital on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Encompassing 45 acres and an investment of $211 million, this new medical center is the largest building project in the history of Lafayette – and reaffirms our commitment to providing more and better access to healthcare for the people we serve.
