What Is Orlando Science Schools (K-12)?

Orlando Science School (OSS) & Orlando Science Elementary School (OSES) are tuition-free, STEM-focused, public charter schools that have been serving Orange County in Central Florida since 2008. In 2011, Orlando Science School achieved accreditation by AdvancED's Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS-CASI). They have also been a high performing charter school since 2011 and received STEM Certification through AdvancED and were named a State School of Character by Character.org in 2018. The schools offer a well-rounded curriculum aligned with Florida Standards and Next Generation Florida State Standards taught in an intimate learning environment with emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Additionally, they believe in giving back through community service and frequent volunteering, as well as by hosting fundraisers and organizing collections for local charities. Beyond academic excellence in the classroom, the schools offer many social and recreational opportunities that create a close-knit student body. Students participate and compete on local and national levels in a variety of extra-curricular activities ranging from Science Olympiad and robotics teams to Model UN and band. Since the beginning, Orlando Science School has been making a name for themselves through Science Olympiad, MathLeague, and FIRST Robotics competitions, various after-school program offerings such as Odyssey of the Mind, Engineering Club, and Duke TiP, and standardized test results. All in an effort to meet the vision of the school which is to empower all students with a STEM education which will help guide them to a promising and successful career.
