What Is Opportunity Village?
CLEAR LAKE, IOWA - We're a private, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to serving people with mental retardation and other disabilities. Since 1971, the Village has offered "Privacy, Dignity and Purpose" to individuals and their families. The Village is based in Clear Lake, Iowa, in the north central part of the state. Our services reach into many local communities, and we serve individuals from throughout Iowa. We provide a caring, supportive atmosphere for more than 560 people who receive one or more types of service from the Village. Ages range from infants receiving respite care in their homes to senior citizens receiving elder services. Disabilities include mental retardation, mental illness, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, brain injury, autism, and more. Opportunity Village services are accredited by the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF). We currently have a 3-year accreditation, the highest level possible.
