What Is Open City Labs?

Open City Labs is a digital health company helping people live longer, healthier, more fulfilling lives. Our tools foster coordination between healthcare and social service providers and government agencies, enabling clients to work collaboratively with staff to: (1) Set health goals and identify the barriers to health (e.g. stress eating because I am a caregiver, or I don't have transportation to get to the gym/doctor's appointment etc) (2) Connect patients with the largest database of hundreds of government programs and a marketplace of thousands of community services that address the barriers to health (social determinants of health). (3) Automates up to 95% of many application forms. With Open City Labs, clinicians, social workers and their patients get recommendations of programs that can benefit their patient/client, can screen for eligibility and easily apply. Our Technology Using data from the electronic medical record our technology combines natural language processing with artificial intelligence to match patients to programs by instantaneously inferring eligibility rules from text and semantically mapping data to accurately complete forms that do not share a common data standard. We are tackling some of the most important challenges facing society: How does access to quality food, housing, education and work effect health and what programs and services are most effective in holistically moving the needle on multiple measures? With President Donald Trump's Health and Human Services Secretary saying that Medicaid may soon pay for food and housing because it saves money on healthcare expenditures, these questions are not purely academic. Open City Labs is forming partnerships with innovative healthcare and social service providers that are committed to improving patient health and well being through goal directed self-care, cross sector partnerships that connect patients to programs and services that address their comprehensive needs.
