What Is Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art?

Book Displays in the Reading Room Timothy O’Sullivan and the Western Geological Surveys, 1867–1872 March 1 – September 2, 2012 After the Civil War, the West became a major subject in American landscape photography. Photographers employed by the geological surveys sponsored by the U.S. government made images of the West that are still iconic today. This book display includes works about O’Sullivan, and titles about the geological surveys. We have also included titles on other photographers working in the West, and on images of the West in other art forms.
