In 1990, National Food Group was started to provide food service operators more creative food solutions as an alternative to traditional food distributors. Based in Michigan, the company was founded by Bud and Sean Zecman. One of the core values, and considered most important to Bud and Sean to this day, was the building of lasting business relationships. Through those relationships, the company discovered a need for high-quality but low-cost food products. Hence National Food Group coined the term, Opportunity Buysr. Around this time, the company also discovered an important need for guiding schools through commodity processing and private label food products. Steadily business grew and segment companies were created under the National Food Group moniker: CSV Sales and United Commodity Group. CSV Sales handled food needs for our nation's corrections and institutions such as colleges, universities, and senior housing facilities just to name a few. United Commodity Group provided food solutions for our nation's K-12 schools. Over the years, through honesty, hard-work and dedication, National Food Group has now become one of the largest USDA bonus commodity food manufacturers and one of the largest providers of Opportunity Buysr in the United States. The company saw need for further expansion in 2009 to better serve customers all across the country, and opened a West Coast office and distribution center in San Diego, CA. Also, to better serve customers with simplicity and satisfaction, the segment companies of CSV Sales and United Commodity Group fused into the National Food Group parent company in 2011. Staying on top and becoming THE brand in the industry is a challenging climb, but it's a challenge that National Food Group meets with energy and drive. We believe as a company that the customer is our most important asset. The original concept of giving high-quality food and value to the customer, with integrity, remains one of our core principals; along with innovation, agility, relevance, and fun. National Food Group's corporate culture is not "corporate." Rather, our standards of professionalism are still based in our humble beginnings. We are a family business and we invest care in our team and customers with that family mentality and heart.
