What Is National Asset Centre of Excellence (NACOE)?

The National Asset Centre of Excellence (NACOE) is a joint initiative by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB). The purpose of the partnership between TMR and ARRB is to unlock innovation and maximise knowledge transfer, delivering savings through smarter engineering and efficiency gains on a national scale. Since 2013, NACOE has driven savings and enhanced national technical capability in transport and road asset engineering through: • Unlocking innovation • Implementing international best practice • Translating new knowledge into practice Since then, NACOE have delivered and made public quality research results with financial benefits to the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Programme (QTRIP). Through a multi-year committed resourced Program, NACOE will drive efficiency through a focus on road infrastructure-related research. The Program provides benefits to the Australian road industry by delivering research to improve best practises and enables effective use of innovative materials to translate new knowledge into practice. The NACOE program runs on a rolling four-year basis, with projects generally spanning one to three years. The program relies on the input and collaboration of the Queensland Department of Transport, ARRB, and Main Roads and industry personnel to develop ideas for projects across the four key discipline areas of pavements, asset management, structures and other (network operations, road safety and heavy vehicle management). Any suggestions for projects can be submitted through the NACOE website, at NACOE.com.au or through the NACOE email address info@NACOE.com.au
