NOW Money uses cutting edge mobile technology to improve the lives of low income migrant workers in the UAE. Our mission is to help workers access financial and remittance services otherwise out of reach, for the first time providing them with direct access to a current account, debit card and remittance directly from our proprietary NOW Money smartphone app and service centre. The background: The Gulf Cooperation Council (‘GCC') countries are home to the second largest remittance market in the world after the US, with over $100 billion sent annually. $50 billion of this comes from the 25 million low-income migrant workers that come to the GCC; primarily from India, Pakistan and the Philippines. These workers work long hours in tough conditions to send money home to support their families. However they are disallowed from opening bank accounts and are excluded from the financial system. NOW Money uses mobile technology to provide accounts, financial inclusion and a range of low-cost remittance options to these workers, improving their lives and saving them significant money.
