What Is NCIRE - The Veterans Health Research Institute?
The Northern California Institute for Research and Education (NCIRE) is a team of physician scientists and scientists working in partnership with the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC) to integrate research interests with the needs of veterans. Patients benefit because their doctors are associated with research programs and have knowledge and access to more effective treatments and diagnostic technologies. NCIRE scientists treat patients. They understand the toll of disease and disability because they see it firsthand. They then use these insights to shape their scientific questions, all in service to one question: how can human health best be served?
