The School City of Hammond is a thriving progressive educational community of learners. The district is comprised of approximately 13,000 students of diverse backgrounds and cultures. The students are housed in 20 school sites consisting of 14 elementary schools, two middle schools (grades 6-8), two middle/high schools (grades 6-12), and two high schools (grades 9-12). In addition, the district offers preschool programs and a number of specialty programs. \n\nThe district promotes both student and teacher excellence.
