The Merced Irrigation District has been serving Eastern Merced County for more than 80 years. The District, a publicly owned, not-for-profit corporation, is the leading provider of clean, affordable irrigation water for its nearly 2,000 grower-members. The District also generates wholesale hydro-electric power at Lake McClure's New Exchequer Dam and is a major supplier of electric service to commercial, industrial and residential users in Eastern Merced County. The District also operates two important recreational facilities - Lake McClure and Lake McSwain.
