What Is MedAlliance Swiss Medical Technology?
Founded in 2008, MedAlliance is a privately-owned medical technology company. It is headquartered in Switzerland, with facilities in Irvine CA, Glasgow UK and Singapore. MedAlliance specializes in the development of ground-breaking technology and commercialisation of advanced drug device combination products for the treatment of coronary and peripheral artery disease. From the outset, MedAlliance has been dedicated to developing innovative drug-eluting balloons (DEBs) for patients suffering from life-threating diseases. Using breakthrough proprietary technology, MedAlliance has found a solution to the challenge of controlled and sustained sirolimus release with SELUTION SLRᅢᄁ¬ダᅡᄁ, a drug-eluting balloon catheter with sustained limus release technology, for the treatment of both coronary and peripheral artery disease. SELUTION SLRᅢᄁ¬ツᆲ¬トᄁs technology involves unique MicroReservoirs made from biodegradable polymer intermixed with the anti-restenotic drug sirolimus. These MicroReservoirs provide controlled and sustained release of the drug. Extended release of sirolimus from stents has been proven highly efficacious in both coronary and peripheral vasculatures. MedAllianceᅢᄁ¬ツᆲ¬トᄁs proprietary CATᅢᄁ¬ダᅡᄁ (Cell Adherent Technology) enables the MicroReservoirs to be coated onto balloons and adhered to the vessel lumen when delivered via an angioplasty balloon. In February 2019, MedAlliance became the first DEB company in the world to receive Breakthrough Device Designation Status for a coronary DEB from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). SELUTION SLR has now achieved this status for a range of indications: the treatment of AV-Fistula; coronary in-stent restenosis and peripheral below-the-knee lesions. In February 2020 MedAlliance announced the award of its first CE Mark Approval: for SELUTION SLR in the treatment of peripheral arterial disease. In May 2020 the company announced the award of its second CE Mark: SELUTION SLR 014 PTCA for the treatment of coronary arterial disease.
