What Is Laramie County Fire Authority?

The new Laramie County Fire Authority exists to protect life, home, and property by providing fire suppression, rescue, medical assistance, and public education with proficient, well trained, caring, and compassionate personnel with pride, honor, and integrity. Formed by the merger between Laramie County Fire Districts #2 and #8, the Laramie County Fire Authority covers well-over a thousand square miles of suburban/rural residential areas, commercial developments, and open ranch land - serving over 20k residents. We provide coverage for Wal-Mart distribution center, which is the largest building in Wyoming. In addition to Wal-Mart we also provide coverage for a Microsoft data center which includes 7 buildings at an approximate total of 300,000 sq. ft. and the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC) which is 175,000sq ft. and provides advanced computing services to scientists studying a broad range of disciplines. We also cover large stretches of Interstate 25 and Interstate 80 which approximately 14,000 vehicles travel through daily. Along with our first due area, we also provide mutual aid to at least 4 other neighboring fire districts.
