KALY is developing a sustainable, low-cost supply chain for farmed seaweed in Europe that includes production, value-added processing, and product development. From our home base on the beautiful Isle of Skye, we are methodically building the backbone of an entire industry in conjunction with partners from industry, academia, and government. \n\nThe many exciting applications for farmed seaweed - along with the ecosystem services in the sea and implications for land use ashore that seaweed farming can deliver - are only meaningful provided that vast quantities of biomass are produced and processed at a competitive price point. Moving down the cost curve, achieving economies of scale, and developing proprietary technology and processes is the name of the game for KALY.\n \nAdditionally, KALY is focused on the advancement of marine natural capital as an investable asset class through initial market enablement exercises and stakeholder engagement leading to live project development for the replenishment of depleted marine species that serve as healthy ecosystem engineers.\n \nKALY is focused on building social license through delivering economic opportunity to coastal communities whose livelihoods depend on the seas.
