JL Souser was established in 1954 by Joseph L. Souser and his wife Polly. The Business was started as a Manufacturers' Representative firm handling Power Transmission Equipment and covering the Middle Atlantic States. Upon the death of Joe Souser in 1976, Polly became the President of the company and remained in the capacity until 1986. The firm was incorporated as J.L. Souser & Associates, Inc. (JLS) in 1978. Craig Souser, Joe and Polly's son, graduated from Lehigh University in 1980 and took over sales responsibility of the company.
