Founded in 1992, Insitu, Inc. is a pioneer developer of long-range, unmanned, autonomous aircraft systems and sensors. To measure in situ (dictionary, pronunciation) means to measure \'in place.\' Incorporated in 1994, Insitu continues to develop innovative unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) for both commercial and military purposes, including unmanned aircraft (UA), tools for ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance), communications relay technology, and meteorological and geophysical measurement tools. Practical applications of the technology include military reconnaissance, the creation of internet networks in remote areas, border patrol, coastal monitoring, anti-sniper systems, environmental monitoring, search and rescue, and disaster relief.
