What Is IPD (Import Promotion Desk)?
Import Promotion Desk (IPD) is an initiative to promote imports in Germany. It acts as a hinge between European importers and small and medium-sized enterprises in selected developing and emerging countries. The aim is to integrate the partner countries into international trade and thus contribute to sustainable economic development in these countries. IPD brings importers and exporters together as trading partners and pursues the development of sustainable business relations. Since 2012, IPD has been funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Deve-lopment (BMZ). The globally active development organisation sequa gGmbH is responsible for setting up and implementing the IPD in close cooperation with the German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services Association. (BGA). IPD services at a glance: Importers: - Development of new growth markets in the partner countries - Time, cost and risk-optimised sourcing - Contact with tested suppliers at trade fairs and procurement trips - Organisation of buyer trips - Information on products, markets and countries Exporters: - Access to the EU market - Training and workshops to prepare for the EU market - Information on import regulations and quality standards - Support for trade fair appearances in Europe - Contact mediation to potential buyers through targeted matchmaking IPD is currently active in 13 partner countries and five product groups. Partner countries: Egypt, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Colombia, Ne-pal, Peru, Sri Lanka, Tunisia and Ukraine.
