ICE, standing for Industria Chimica Emiliana, was founded in Northern Italy in 1949 and is now headquartered in Reggio Emilia. Since its establishment ICE has grown organically and through acquisition to develop a globally integrated business that produces ingredients for the Pharma industry. Thanks to this vertically integrated model, ICE has become a leader in bile-related products manufacturing. ICE's most relevant production is the Ursodeoxycholic Acid (UDCA), that is an Active Pharmaceuticals Ingredient (API) used to manufacture medicines for the majority of liver disease, being effective for treating gallstones as well as for oncological conditions. On top of UDCA production, ICE is also committed to enhance the production and quality for almost 20 other APIs that are currently manufactured in our sites. ICE is constantly striving towards product portfolio innovation by developing new processes and investing in state-of-the-art technologies and continued staff training; and thus its R&D Laboratories are strongly engaged in the development of New Chemical Entities based on bile acids, some of which are currently in Phase III development. ICE has developed, to sustain its global reach, a strong Quality and Regulatory structure, that support business and operations in maintaining both constant quality output and glocal regulations compliance. API's production is fully compliant with cGMP standards (EU, US, Japan) in all the company sites.
